I started The Little Pet Biscuit Company in 2012, and through extensive R&D involving a few mishaps along the way and lots of taste testing for canine appoval, I developed a really super range of handmade dog biscuits, loved by so many pooches and their owners.
I would spend around 4 days a week baking like mad and once the biscuits were cooled, it would take me a day to label up my compostable bags, fill them with biscuits and heat seal the freshness in. It truly was a single-handed labour of love.
Until disaster struck...
On a sunny early-morning ride in August 2024, my horse was spooked by a dog (of all things!) and ran away, with me clinging on. Unfortuntely I couldn't hang on for long and we parted company. My air vest successfully inflated before I hit the ground, undoubtedly saving me from life threatening injuries. But I still managed to fracture my right shoulder, dislocate and fracture (very very badly) my left shoulder and dislocate and fracture my right wrist and thumb. All of which required two surgeries over the course of three weeks to try and piece back together.
My recovery will be a long one and it is possible that mobility in my wrist and shoulders will be sufficiently limited to make it impossible to mix, roll, cut and bake my dog biscuits as before.
I am currently exploring options to continue to be able to offer you my own Little Pet Biscuit Co biscuits, using my recipes, but outsourcing the making and baking. But in the meantime, I have been busy sniffing out some other fabulous dog biscuits by a small number of handpicked, UK-based (very impawtant!) bakeries that I will be introducing you to over the coming weeks.
Please just bear with me for now because my typing is slow and my broken bones need a rest every now and again.
Thank you for your continued loyalty and faith in The Little Pet Biscuit Company.
All my love
Dominique
